Following National Service with the band of the Royal Inniskillings, Neville studied in Manchester with Ronald Wright and Stephen Waters.
Later he was a pupil of international clarinet virtuoso Gervase De Peyer in London.
Neville made his London debut at the Wigmore Hall in 1968 which led to the first of many recitals on BBC Radio 3.
He was a founder-member of the English Saxophone Quartet with whom he played hundreds of concerts and made many recordings and radio and television appearances.
Neville has had a distinguished teaching career at the RNCM and Chetham’s.
As an orchestral saxophonist, he performed under many well-known conductors including Sir Simon Rattle, Eduardo Mata and Yuri Tamirkanov
